About
Olivier J. LW is a multidisciplinary artist and musician born in Western Europe in the early 1980s and now living in the south of France. His creative life began in childhood with a fascination for the silent intelligence of nature, the structures of plants, the patterns of the animal world and the hidden order beneath visible forms. Over time this early wonder grew inward, opening toward speculative realms, dream imagery and the subtle languages that shape the unseen. Music arrived in his adolescence as another path toward the unknown and he immersed himself in raw and unpolished underground sounds. After moving to Belgium at sixteen he formed a band that still exists today, a project that has carried him across continents and allowed him to share his vision with audiences throughout the Americas and beyond.
His visual practice moves through inner landscapes and metaphysical questions. One body of work reflects on his experience as an adoptee, not through narrative but through expressive and symbolic forms that reach toward the mystery of origin. These paintings explore the shifting relationship between identity, memory and the deeper self, inviting the viewer into a space where answers remain unresolved and the source of the self becomes an open field.
Another series enters the territory of dreams and the body’s nocturnal life. Olivier studies the currents that flow beneath consciousness, the biology of sleep and the chemistry that shapes our hidden interior. Through imagery of blood, veins and luminous inner pathways he evokes the strange and fleeting nature of the dream state, a place suspended between the physical and the imaginal.
A third body of work touches the spiritual dimension and the presence we often name ghosts. These pieces explore the slow dissolution of these subtle forms as they pass from the visible world into the realm of spirit. The work lingers on the fragile threshold between life and death, portraying these beings in the moment of fading, when the material dissolves and only essence remains.
Olivier’s musical practice follows the same impulse toward depth and layered meaning. Sound design plays a central role and his collection of guitars, pedals and synthesizers serves as an extended vocabulary for exploring inner movement. Each composition begins with a pulse or a sensation and unfolds into textures that mirror the emotional and spiritual territories he explores in his visual work.
Now based in France, his home has become his workshop, a living space shaped by creation where painting, music and research unfold side by side. It functions as both studio and sanctuary, a place where the visible and invisible meet in the daily rhythm of his artistic life.
Looking ahead he remains committed to creation as a form of inquiry, following the images and ideas that rise from the subconscious and from the wider collective field. His practice continues with the same sense of necessity and devotion that has accompanied him since the beginning.
